Foundation that controls A.P. Møller-Maersk restructures

The Danish foundation that controls the A.P. Møller-Maersk conglomerate, A.P. Møller og Hustru Chastine Mc-Kinney Møllers Fond til almene Formaal, has restructured.
A.P. Møller-Maersk said the foundation, which owns 41.51 percent of the company’s shares and has 51.09 percent of the votes, has “transferred all of its shares in the company to a newly established subsidiary of the foundation, A.P. Møller Holding A/S.”
A spokesman for the company said the change in the foundation’s structure affects neither the conglomerate’s strategy nor its daily operations.
The website Maritime Denmark quoted Martin Jes Iversen, an associate professor of business history at the Copenhagen, as saying the change “opens a lot of new opportunities for Maersk family fund and to do more than to be a major shareholder of AP Møller-Maersk.”
It quoted Ane Maersk Mc-Kinney Uggla, chairman of the foundation and new holding company, as saying, “You can well imagine acquisitions under the auspices of the holding company, but we have no concrete ideas.”
