Executive Moves: XPO Logistics, WCA and ECSA

XPO names new president of supply chain business, while WCA picks new CEO and the European Community Shipowners’s Associations lines up new leadership.    XPO Logistics has appointed Louis DeJoy to its board of directors, coinciding with his retirement as chief executive officer of XPO’s supply chain business in North America. He is succeeded by Ashfaque Chowdhury, who has been appointed president of XPO’s supply chain business in the Americas and Asia Pacific. Chowdhury has served in senior positions with the company for more than two decades.

Dan March has been named chief executive officer of WCA, the largest global freight forwarder network. WCA’s founder David Yokeum will become chairman, and Ram Menen joins the network’s global supervisory board. March had previously served as WCA’s communications director for the past five years, while Menen formerly headed cargo for many years at Emirates Airlines until his retirement in 2013. Yokeum started WCA in 1998.

Niels Smedegaard, president and chief executive officer of DFDS, has been elected president of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations, with Panagiotis Laskaridis, founder and CEO of Laskaridis Shipping, as vice president. Smedegaard, whose term starts in January, replaces Thomas Rehder who has been head of ECSA since December 2013.
