Bulkloads.com is continuing to add features to its bulk freight app as it further builds out its product offering. The company is now making invoicing a key feature of the Bulkloads app to simplify the process of invoicing shippers, brokers and factoring companies right from the app.
Bulkloads.com started as a load board for bulk haulers in the agricultural markets before expanding into other bulk commodities, including bulk liquids. The app followed and the company has been steadily adding features and functionality since.
The invoice feature is now live on the app and is available on both Android and iPhone. Located under the My Freight tab, carriers can easily click on “submit load/invoice” and enter load information and upload the necessary documents. Once submitted, the invoice is forwarded for payment.
In January, Jared Flinn, operating partner of Bulkloads, talked to FreightWaves about new features being integrated into the app. At the time, the company was working to enhance the user functionality of the app, including the ability to provide real-time alerts for loads and messaging options to easily connect carriers and shippers.
“They can set up alerts to see any [load] posting out of a specific state like California or set up alerts to see when loads are posted out of an origin radius from 10-300 miles,” Flinn explained.
In May, the company rolled out the first part of a transportation management system (TMS) called Doc Scanning. The program includes a document library for carriers to send documents to shippers and brokers through the Bulkloads app, allowing the documents to be retrieved through the website.
With Doc Scanning, carriers can keep tabs on all documents sent to shippers, brokers and next-day pay factoring services. Shippers and brokers can sort and organize all bills of lading and other documents sent in by carriers for easy paperwork flow, and there is an alert system in place in which shippers, brokers and carriers will receive notifications when new documents are sent.
In August, Bulkloads announced its TMS would be built into the commodity offering of Barchart known as cmdtyViewPro. Barchart said in a prepared statement that it would allow “shippers to manage their entire load cycle in one simplified and interactive front end.”
