2 detenidos por el robo de casi un millón de dólares en trailers y pallets

Un proveedor de paletas de madera y su empleado fueron arrestados recientemente bajo la sospecha de robar camiones cargados de paletas de centros de distribución en Florida, dijeron las autoridades.

Bobby Herrera Jr., de 45 años, y Nicholas Howard, de 36 años, se enfrentan a docenas de cargos por delitos graves en relación con el robo de paletas de madera por valor de 704.487 dólares y 25 remolques por valor de más de 231.000 dólares.

La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Polk (PCSO) dijo que comenzó a investigar a Herrera, el propietario de JCI Pallet en Plant City, Florida, en julio, según un comunicado.

Las autoridades dijeron que Herrera fue captado en video retirando siete tráileres llenos de paletas de dos instalaciones de distribución de Florida: Saddle Creek Logistical Services en Auburndale y el Centro de Distribución de Walmart en Winter Haven.

Herrera fue detenido en septiembre. Mientras investigaban el caso, los detectives de la PCSO dijeron que se enteraron de que el gerente de Herrera en JCI Pallet, Howard, ayudó a retirar los tráileres llenos de palés robados de dos centros de distribución.

Los negocios afectados por los robos incluyen Walmart, Saddle Creek Logistics, 48Forty Solutions y Monison Pallets.

“Este tipo de robos repercute negativamente en el consumidor cuando las empresas tienen que aumentar los costos para dar cuenta de este tipo de pérdidas”, dijo el sheriff del condado de Polk, Grady Judd, en un comunicado.

Las autoridades recuperaron todos los tráileres y palés.
