Direct Chassis Link adds domestic chassis

   Direct ChassisLink Inc., the Charlotte, N.C.-based chassis leasing company formed when Maersk Line decided to divest itself of its chassis fleet, has acquired REZ-1, a provider of domestic intermodal equipment management and services.
   REZ-1 currently manages more than 70,000 chassis used to move 53-foot domestic containers. DCLI currently has a fleet of about 135,000 chassis that are used to transport marine or ISO containers that are 20-, 40- or 45-feet long.
   Bill Shea, the chief executive officer of DCLI, said, “REZ-1’s best-in-class asset-management system and technology platform will enhance overall DCLI customer experience, reporting, forecasting, and lead to operational efficiencies.”
   Headquartered in Wellesley, Mass., REZ-1 was founded in 1994 to manage the EMP rail-controlled container program for Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern.
   Marie Colbert, president and chief executive officer of REZ-1, commented, “We look forward to our new partnership with DCLI and believe both companies working together will create a powerful combination in the industry.”
