The Alabama State Port Authority, Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg, Kane Is Able, Lanehub and Pelican Products announce appointments.
Richard T. Clark has been named deputy director of the Alabama State Port Authority. The appointment is effective July 16.
Clark, who has more than 30 years of maritime industry experience, began his career at Cooper T. Smith in New Orleans before joining Puerto Rico Marine Management Inc. to direct its terminal, cargo and warehouse operations.
He most recently served as interim chief operating officer for GT USA Wilmington and U.S. manager of operations at GT USA LLC, a subsidiary of Gulftainer. While with GT USA, Clark led the company’s U.S.-based port operations in Wilmington, Del., and Canaveral, Fla.
Clark said that during his career he has been privileged to have been “surrounded by some brilliant leaders” and looks forward to “bringing the knowledge and experiences gained through those many years to serve the Alabama State Port Authority team.”
International trade, customs and export law firm Sandler, Travis & Rosenberg P.A. announced that Paula Connelly will be joining the firm Monday to help establish the firm’s Boston office.
Connelly has more than 25 years of experience in customs and international trade law.
Managing partner Thomas G. Travis said Connelly has “a stellar reputation for helping businesses address and resolve import and export compliance issues.”
Connelly serves as legal counsel for the Boston Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association, vice president of the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade, a member of the AD/CV working group for U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Commercial Customs Operations Advisory Committee and a member of the International Business Advisory Board at Massachusetts Maritime.
Kane Is Able Inc. announced that it has hired Richard McDuffie to serve as chief operating officer.
McDuffie has nearly 30 years of supply chain experience spanning the retail, manufacturing and 3PL industries, according to the announcement from Kane Is Able, which said, “He is an accomplished operations and supply chain executive with extensive knowledge in strategic planning, transportation and fleet management, warehouse operations management, supply chain systems integration and collaborative program development.”
He previously was the chief operating officer and board member for Dunavant Enterprises Inc. McDuffie also has held senior logistics roles at AutoZone and Williams-Sonoma and executive positions at Cardinal Logistics, J.B. Hunt and Ryder.
Kane Is Able also announced that it has named Stan Schrader (pictured above left) chief commercial officer.
Schrader has more than 35 years of supply chain experience, “with a strong background in building and scaling highly successful logistics sales organizations,” according to the announcement from Kane Is Able.
Most recently, Schrader served as chief sales officer at MXD Group, which Ryder purchased in 2018. He also has held executive roles at XPO, Jacobson, Arnold Logistics and Exel (DHL Supply Chain).
Lanehub, a collaborative transportation network that enables shippers or carriers to match recurring freight lanes based on long-term direct partnerships, has hired Mark Thomson (above center) as vice president of business development and Whitney Oren as the member success manager.
Thomson will be tasked with fostering and building relationships and creating strategic solutions that strengthen member supply chains and increase their competitive advantage. His background includes more than 20 years of experience in supply chain sales and operations as well as expertise in building a successful startup business with a focus on transportation innovation.
Oren will be responsible for management of key accounts. She joins Lanehub from Schneider Logistics, for which she built and managed carrier relationships and oversaw brokerage training and development.
Pelican Products Inc. has hired David Morton (above right) as regional human resources director for its South Deerfield, Mass., office.
Pelican designs and manufactures high-performance protective cases, temperature-controlled packaging solutions, advanced portable lighting systems and rugged gear.
Morton has nearly 30 years of HR experience with two Connecticut companies, Henkel Corp. and The Hartford Financial Services Group.
Ellenmary Michel, Pelican’s vice president of worldwide human resources, said Morton’s “knowledge of HR policy, career development and employment law make him a great asset to the region and Pelican as a whole.”
