Land-Air Express back on the road

The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Thursday said Land-Air Express of New England has corrected its safety deficiencies and is now allowed back on the road.

The U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration on Thursday said Land-Air Express of New England has corrected its safety deficiencies and is now allowed back on the road.
The Williston, Vt.-based company operates about 300 trucks for truckload and less-than-truckload services throughout the Northeast. It operates 14 terminals across an eight-state region. Some of its direct customers include shippers such as LL Bean, Yankee Candle, WW Grainger, Rossignal, Country Home Products, and Vermont Country Store, as well as interline arrangements with upwards of 60 LTL carriers, according to the company’s website.
FMCSA on Dec. 29 gave Land-Air an “unsatisfactory” rating leading to its prohibition.
“Based on a negotiated Safety Management Plan, and evidence of actions taken by the company to correct deficiencies in its safety management system, Land-Air’s rating has been upgraded to ‘conditional,’ and the out-of-service order lifted,” the agency said.
FMCSA said it will closely monitor the carrier’s safety performance for the next two years.
