NCA touches down at DFW airport

   Nippon Cargo Airlines (NCA) will start new freighter flights connecting Tokyo’s Narita International Airport and Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport in Texas, starting Nov. 5.
   Nippon Cargo’s twice weekly flights will be the first direct freighter connections for the Dallas/Fort Worth area into Japan, and will bolster DFW’s cargo lift capacity to Asia while also providing a new connection to an important destination for the airline.
   “Opening more routes between Texas and Asia provides an excellent opportunity for regional businesses to ship goods quickly,” said Jeff Fegan, chief executive officer of DFW International Airport, in a statement.
   NCA will operate the route from Narita to Chicago O’Hare, then to DFW Airport, Anchorage, and then back to Narita. The carrier will fly Boeing 747-400 freighters on the route, and plans to phase-in the new B747-8s in the service.
   “With offices already in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, Dallas/Fort Worth marks the next logical step for the growth of Nippon Cargo Airlines in the United States,” said Dave McInerney, the airline’s senior manager of sales for United States, South, Alaska and Canada.
