Nevada Trucking Association CEO named to ATA council post

Enos brings more than 15 years of experience serving industry to Trucking Association Executives Council

American Trucking Associations (ATA) announced Monday that Paul Enos has been named chairman of the ATA Trucking Association Executives Council (TAEC).

Enos, CEO of the Nevada Trucking Association, succeeds Brenda Neville as chair. He brings more than 15 years of experience serving the trucking industry.

“We’re really a family — the American Trucking Associations, the Trucking Association Executives Council,” Enos told FreightWaves. “We all face similar issues when it comes to our members, trying to address the issues that our members are facing in a positive way — whether it’s stopping abusive lawsuits or protecting the absolutely vital independent contractor model — our federation is very strong.”

TAEC is composed of executives from state trucking associations and conferences affiliated with the ATA. Its purpose is to promote the trucking industry and help improve the associations serving the industry.

“What I’m looking to do is make sure that all our colleagues around the country have the opportunity to go out and get information — we have monthly webinars where we talk about independent contractors, the environmental issues and how to stop abusive lawsuits,” Enos said.

Enos became president of the Nevada Trucking Association in 2006. He is a two-time Mike Russell Trucking Image Award winner and has served on the ATA’s research advisory committee, in addition to a number of community organizations.

“Paul is a dynamo and a true leader in our industry — in Nevada and nationwide,” John Lynch, ATA senior vice president of federation relations, said in a statement. “His energy and enthusiasm for this industry is infectious, and TAEC will benefit from his drive and dedication to trucking.”

Enos said some of the policy issues he will focus on include recruiting younger drivers, examining how legalized marijuana is affecting the trucking industry and studying how to address driver retention issues.

“My focus is going to be on making sure that the Trucking Association Executives Council continues to be a great resource for all the state trucking associations, that we are able to provide our folks with data,” Enos said. “Data to me is very important and how we use that data in terms of advocating for industry, I want to strengthen what we’re able to do with that.”
