UPS upgrades Jacksonville ground package hub

The Atlanta, Ga.-based parcel giant will spend $196 million to expand its Jacksonville, Fla. ground package hub to add more than 260,000 square feet to the building and automation.    UPS will spend $196 million to expand its Jacksonville, Fla. ground package hub to add more than 260,000 square feet to the building and automation.
   When completed in the fall of 2019, capacity will increase by one-third to more than 80,000 packages processed per hour, the company said.
   Changes at the facility site will also include a larger trailer staging area, as well as space for another 46 package car positions for its local area delivery operations.
   According to UPS, more than 1,650 full and part-time UPS employees currently work at both the hub and its adjacent four package centers.
