The logistics company, headed by industry vet Bill Aldridge, will use GT Nexus’s cloud-based platform to improve visibility all the way to ordering for its customers.
The global logistics company Allport Cargo Services has begun using the software provider GT Nexus’ visibility and supply chain collaboration platform, the companies said last week.
Allport, headed by industry veteran Bill Aldridge, offers forwarding and third-party logistics services with a particular focus on the retail and consumer markets. Aldridge launched the company in partnership with Hong Kong-based founder and chairman John Lau.
“Customers demand technology innovation that offers greater control and visibility of orders,” Aldridge said. “A cloud-based network enables us to expand upon our extensive presence and proven origin management expertise to deliver enhanced services to all verticals in North America, particularly the retail sector. Network-based platforms like GT Nexus represent the future. Plugging into a cloud-commerce platform positions us to deliver new industry-leading functionality and capabilities that enhance our customers’ ability and agility to service their own clientele.”
GT Nexus’ system is designed to connect shippers, their service logistics and transportation providers, suppliers and other upstream and downstream partners on a single platform for supply chain visibility and execution, so that “cargo service providers, factories and all of the necessary trading partners involved in the movement of goods are able to tap into a single cloud network to transact,” said GT Nexus President Kurt Cavano.
The company’s platform includes shippers across multiple verticals, ocean carriers and logistics providers. The company was acquired last year by the enterprise resourcing planning systems provider Infor.
