Executive Moves: Florida Ports Council, APP, Truckstop.com and Gebrüder Weiss

   The Florida Ports Council a non-profit corporation that serves as the professional association for Florida’s public seaports and their management, elected Steven Cernak, Port Everglades chief executive and port director, as chairman, succeeding Paul Anderson, Port Tampa Bay’s director. In addition, the Florida Ports Council selected Juan Kuryla, Port Miami’s port director and CEO, as vice chairman; and Manuel Almira, the Port of Palm Beach’s executive director, as secretary and treasurer.

   The Association of Pacific Ports (APP), a trade and information association designed to promote increased efficiency and effectiveness of Pacific ports, has named Elizabeth Blanchard, the Port of Stockton’s port commissioner, as APP’s president for 2017-18. Blanchard’s tenure as APP president officially began Aug. 1. She has been involved with the APP since being named port commissioner at the Port of Stockton in 2008, and has been serving on the APP’s executive committee since 2010. She is also the current board chair for the Port of Stockton.

   Freight matching marketplace Truckstop.com has appointed Bill Vitti chief commercial officer. Vitti has served as the company’s chief sales officer since 2015.
   In addition, Truckstop.com has selected Brent Hutto, who has served as the company’s chief marketing officer since 2013, to fill the newly-created role of chief relationship officer.

   Transport and logistics company Gebrüder Weiss’ director and regional manager north, Reinhold Graßer, will retire on Dec. 31, and will be succeeded by Peter Schafleitner, who has been managing the company’s central region.
   Gebrüder Weiss’ director and regional manager south, Erich Schafer, will also retire on Dec. 31. Wolfgang Niessner, CEO of Gebrüder Weiss, will manage the region on an interim basis starting Sept. 1.
