CMA CGM vessel first to use TRAXENS technology

Ocean carrier CMA CGM’s 18,000-TEU containership, the CMA CGM Bougainville, became the first ship in the world to implement TRAXENS’ technology, which monitors and tracks containers throughout their transport.    CMA CGM’s new 18,000-TEU flagship vessel, the CMA CGM Bougainville, has become the first ship in the world to implement technology developed by TRAXENS, a French startup that specializes in the development of technology to monitor and track containers.
TRAXENS’ technology transforms standard containers into smart, connected objects by collecting real-time data throughout the container’s transport.
The TRAXENS-equipped smart containers will use built-in relay antennas to communicate among themselves and to the vessel’s communication infrastructure. Collected data will then be sent to CMA CGM’s headquarters via TRAXENS’ data centers, the French ocean carrier said in a statement.
Data collected includes location, temperature, humidity level, vibrations, impacts, attempted burglary, customs clearance status and more.
In addition, the technology can remotely control and adjust the temperature of refrigerated containers.
The CMA CGM Bougainville operates on the Ocean3 Alliance’s FAL loop, which has a rotation of Southampton, Dunkirk, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Le Havre, Malta, Khor Fakkan, Yantian, Xingang, Dalian, Busan, Qingdao, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Port Kelang, Algeciras and Southampton.
