Southern Air operates 747 for Centurion

   Southern Air Holdings has started operating a Boeing 747-200 freighter for Centurion Air Cargo under a multiyear ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) agreement.
   From Miami International Airport, Centurion, together with its related party SkyLease Cargo, operates a fleet of four MD-11 freighters; leases an additional six MD-11 freighters from SkyLease Cargo; provides scheduled all-cargo service to multiple destinations in South and Central America, Mexico, Caribbean, and Europe; and offers worldwide charters.
   Southern Air also recently entered leases to add two Boeing 777 all-cargo planes to its fleet. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery in March and April 2012, and will bring the wet lease operator’s 777 freighter fleet to four planes.
   “Following the recent capital investment in Southern Air, we have the necessary financial strength to continue investing in our fleet in the coming years, which will benefit our blue chip clients and attract additional ones,” said Daniel McHugh, Southern Air chief executive officer, in a statement.
