21 Air ready for take-off

The new Greensboro, N.C.-based airfreight carrier received clearance from the U.S. Department of Transportation to begin scheduled domestic and international service using its two 767-200ER aircraft.    21 Air, a new airfreight carrier, is ready to begin operations following approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Previously a charter broker offering service to Puerto Rico, the Caribbean and South America, 21 Air plans to begin scheduled domestic and international service using its two 767-200ER aircraft.
The two 767-200ER freighters are leased from JW Aviation, a company managed by 21 Air founder Adolfo Moreno.
21 Air is based in Greensboro, N.C., home to Honda and Volvo Trucks’ U.S. headquarters and more than 55,000 manufacturing jobs in the textile, tobacco and furniture industries, among others. Parcel giant and logistics provider FedEx also has a regional facility in Greensboro and the city has been trying to boost its logistics sector.
The company’s previous charter brokering business posted profits of $272,000 on revenues of $12.6 million in 2015 and another $867,000 in net income on revenues of $4.4 million in first quarter 2016, according to DOT. Formed in 2014, 21 Air has shareholder equity of around $2 million and a working capital balance of $1.92 million.
