ACS Logistics has expanded its Internet-based purchase order and
shipment-tracking system to capture information on the final delivery of
imported cargo within the United States.
Through NetTrac, ACS collects web-based reporting forms from trucking
companies and warehouses, which provide container number, bill-of-lading number, pickup or
delivery date and time and ZIP code information.
The trucking companies access the forms via ACS’s website,
www.acslogistics.com, which requires a password
and login ID code.
It is believed to be the first Internet service that allows importers to
track international merchandise from factory floor to final delivery at a
distribution center or retail store using a single electronic source,
according to Peter Weis, chief information officer for ACS.
ACS Logistics is part of the APL Logistics group, based in Oakland, Calif.
