AgTC rebrands as Agriculture & Commodities Transportation Coalition

Peter Friedmann, executive director of the recently renamed Agriculture & Commodities Transportation Coalition, told American Shipper the change was made to “reflect the diversity of our membership, which has been in place since the beginning.”

The Agriculture Transportation Coalition (AgTC), long the industry voice for U.S. exporters before industry and government, has added the word “Commodities” to its name.
Peter Friedmann, executive director of the recently renamed Agriculture & Commodities Transportation Coalition, told American Shipper the change was made to “reflect the diversity of our membership, which has been in place since the beginning.”
AgTC, as it will still be noted in the shortened version, traces its roots to 1988 when Friedmann, along with three exporters representing cotton, rice and almonds, met in a cocktail lounge of the former Holiday Inn in Fresno, Calif.
However, Friedmann noted that since the AgTC’s inception, it’s members have spanned beyond just agriculture shippers. In fact, the group counts among its founding members chemical, forest product and resin exporters.
In addition to its work in Washington, the AgTC meets regularly, holding its annual conference in Long Beach, Calif., and conducts numerous member workshops across the country during the year.
