AirBridgeCargo, Sky Fresh sign cargo service quality agreement

The agreement is related mainly to cargo acceptance checklists, which were traditionally paper-based and filled in manually during the transportation process, according to a joint statement from the companies.

Russia-based AirBridgeCargo Airlines and Sky Fresh, a Brussels-based tech start-up, have signed a service agreement on digital procedures for the transport of time- and temperature-sensitive shipments, most notably pharmaceuticals, the companies confirmed Nov. 24.
The service agreement, they said, is mainly related to cargo acceptance checklists, which were traditionally paper-based and filled in manually during the transportation process.
Sky Fresh provides an online web platform to centralize data from all acceptance checklists, with the possibility of monitoring freight movements for time and temperature sensitive shipments at each step of the transportation and the sending of automated notifications to all supply chain stakeholders.
Users will be able to complete the checklists via a mobile application on their smartphone or tablet. All corresponding real-time data is visible on Sky Fresh’s Web platform, which the company says is accessible in any browser.
“It is not every day we see cutting-edge technologies penetrating into the air cargo industry, which makes Sky Fresh an attractive industry and tech-savvy solution,” AirBridgeCargo Airlines Global Director, Pharma, Fedor Novikov said, adding it the company foresees the technology propelling the quality of its product by eliminating the potential of human error.
“With environmental considerations high on the agenda of our company, we will contribute by decreasing the number of paper documents and using digitalization instead,” Novikov said. “It will definitely make the whole process of transportation more transparent, customized and accurate.”
“Together, we want to create a digital mindset in the air freight industry, not only through efficiency gains but also by providing real-time data to support strategic decisions and proof of the excellence of ABC (AirBridgeCargo),” Sky Fresh Business Developer Manager Fen Lasseel explained.
AirBridgeCargo says that for the first 10 months of 2017, it has seen its highest-ever growth in the volume of pharmaceuticals carried, rising 153 percent year-over-year. This, the company says, illustrates its commitment to the industry and efforts in developing solutions for special cargoes.
The airline says it’s is currently training a pool of home-grown specialists in time and temperature sensitive cargo solutions and networking so that it can stay in touch with the latest innovations in the air cargo industry.
