Automotive parts maker to use MIC compliance solutions in North America

The company has already implemented solutions from the global trade management software vendor in Europe, with the North America rollout to include preferential origin and product classification tools.

The automotive parts manufacturer ZF North America has agreed to use global trade management software from MIC Customs Solutions after the company successfully implemented the solutions in Europe, the software provider said.
ZF joins a number of other automotive companies in the Americas using MIC solutions, including General Motors, Daimler Trucks, Yazaki and Delphi Automotive.
The North American rollout will focus on MIC’s solution for automated calculation of preferential origin, including management of supplier declarations, which supports the handling of more than 85 free trade agreements. ZF will use the supplier web portal repository, a web front end application for suppliers, as well as MIC’s tariff classification tool, which allows users to classify products accurately and efficiently for different national tariffs.
The tools are designed to produce cost savings and increase compliance levels. The ZF project will also cover the American Automotive Labelling Act calculations and supplier solicitations. ZF has already implemented NAFTA management for the project’s pilot factory, and seven other U.S. plants will be brought on board in 2016.
