BNSF and Red River Valley and Western Railroad last week agreed that they will create a train shuttle service to James Valley Grain’s proposed facility in Verona, N.D.
Construction of the facility, which is reported to be a $30 million investment, had been waiting on the deal between the two carriers.
“While specific details of the agreement are confidential, BNSF and RRVW are confident that the outcome will be improved service and additional capacity for joint customers through the increased investment of both railroads,” according to a BNSF statement.
Senator John Hoeven, R-N.D., said the deal will boost the state’s rail service.
“New service to the proposed facility in Verona will improve the reliability of rail transportation in our state, ensuring that our producers are able to receive the supplies they need and ship the items they grow,” he said.
