Cathay Pacific sees cargo growth in September

The carrier experienced a 14.5-percent rise in activity when compared to September 2013.

Cathay Pacific and Dragonair saw cargo and mail volumes grow 14.5 percent, year-over-year, in September, finishing the moth at 147,307 tons.
During the same time frame, capacity ticked up by 10.8 percent, and the load factor rose by 2.9 points. So far this year, cargo volume is up 11.7 percent over the same period in 2013, and capacity has grown by 11.3 percent.
Cathay Pacific General Manager, Cargo Sales and Marketing, Mark Sutch said European demand fell short of predictions, but North American demand is healthy. Routes to the Americas will be a main focus throughout the peak season, he added.
“Demand out of Hong Kong and the key manufacturing regions in Mainland China and Southeast Asia continued to be strong in September, with traffic spurred by the launch of new consumer IT products in the market,” he said.
