CMA CGM, China Shipping, Hatsu to start transatlantic loop

CMA CGM, China Shipping and Evergreen subsidiary Hatsu Marine will start in June a weekly transatlantic service connecting ports in the South Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico to North Europe.

The Transat South, due to start June 4, will use five ships of about 2,800 TEUs. China Shipping and CMA CGM will provide two ships each while Hatsu will contribute one vessel. The port rotation will be: Le Havre; Antwerp; Rotterdam; Bremerhaven; Charleston, S.C.; Veracruz, Mexico; Altamira, Mexico; Houston; and back to Le Havre.

CMA CGM said the service would have a nine-day transit time between Bremerhaven and Charleston.

The French carrier takes space on the Grand Alliance’s weekly GMX service in the same trade.
