Dezenski to represent biometric company
Elaine Dezenski, who left her post as acting assistant secretary for policy development in the Department of Homeland Security in late March, has resurfaced as a political consultant for Cross Match Technologies.
The Arlington, Va.-based company provides biometric identification systems that capture and analyze a person’s genetic characteristics using fingerprints and palm scans, iris and facial recognition imaging, and other techniques. Cross Match systems are used at border checkpoints by law enforcement personnel to verify the identity of immigrants or temporary workers, for background checks, access control to facilities, and other security purposes.
Dezenski played a key role within DHS developing policies on ocean and air cargo security, port security, immigration and border control.
Many former DHS officials, including ex-secretary Tom Ridge, have lined up jobs within days or weeks of leaving office, but Dezenski took some time off to travel and relax before taking a private sector position.
Dezenski announced her new job in an e-mail to friends and former colleagues.
