DP World bans Qatari vessels from calling its terminals

In addition, Maersk Line has ceased accepting cargo between Qatar and various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen, as diplomatic tensions rise.

Dubai-based terminal operator DP World has banned all vessels carrying Qatar’s flag from calling its terminals in the United Arab Emirates, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal.
The announcement comes after six other Middle Eastern countries – Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Egypt, Yemen and Libya – severed diplomatic ties with Qatar earlier this week, causing concerns over freight disruptions in the region.
DP World said in a statement Tuesday the ban will apply to “vessels destined to or arriving from Qatar” until further notice, WSJ reported.
Maersk Line has ceased cargo acceptance between Qatar and various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain and Yemen, the Danish carrier said.
In addition, Maersk has temporarily closed bookings for cargo from the rest of the world that transship over Jebel Ali to and from Qatar.
