A two-week strike at the Egyptian Port of Sokhna has ended, according to local media reports.
The strike reportedly began after eight workers at the DP World-operated port were let go, leading other dockworkers to walk off the job. Sokhna lies on the Red Sea, near the mouth of the Suez Canal, and is a key transit point for Egyptian cargo destined to and from Asia.
The Egyptian government and dockworkers said a compromise had been reached this week to allow operations to resume.
Sokhna, along with other Egyptian ports, was also affected by strikes during the January 2011 uprising in the country.
