Flower volumes expected to snarl traffic in Miami
The Florida Department of Transportation has issued a warning for traffic delays west of Miami International Airport in the coming weeks as the flower industry prepares for a flood of flower imports from Latin America via Miami for Valentine's Day.
Flowers that will be distributed throughout the country come in through the Miami airport each Valentine's season, attributing for the busiest period of the year for air cargo.
The FDOT said traffic will be especially heavy on Northwest 25th Street from the Palmetto Expressway (State Road 826) to Northwest 67th Avenue, where numerous logistics services and distribution companies are located. State officials said the expect traffic delays from Jan. 25 through Feb. 13. The notice recommended the use of alternate routes whenever possible, and to obey construction and directional signs on 25th Street, which is in the midst of a major construction project.
