IES gets Ocean AMS users on ACE

IES, which provides a suite of import and export services, announced that its entire Ocean AMS customer base will be moved from the Automated Commercial System (ACS) to the new Automated Commercial Environment (ACE), a commercial trade processing system developed by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
ACE is an attempt to create a single window approach for the United States where international traders electronically provide all information needed by federal agencies for the import of cargo. One of the biggest changes in ACE is that all documentation must be sent electronically.
IES’s former Ocean AMS system is a Web-based platform that allowed customers to file cargo manifest information in advance of arrival with Customs and provides the ability to review cargo status messages received from the agency.
“The move is completely hands-free for our Ocean AMS customers,” IES said in a statement.
Starting at the end of September, ACE will be the only platform that Customs will use for advanced manifest filing for ocean and rail cargo. ACE will eventually replace all import information and manifest systems.
