Inflation slowing in Jamaica
Jamaica's inflation rate has slowed significantly over the last 12 months, contributing to improved economic stability for the country, according to figures released by the Statistical Institute of Jamaica.
The SIJ said 2006 inflation rate 6 percent, down from 12.9 percent in 2005.
The central bank for Jamaica predicts there will be a minor increase in inflation during the first quarter of 2007 because of rising world grain prices and recent volatility in world oil prices, according to a report in the Jamaica Observer.
The central bank is also predicting increased stability in the foreign exchange rates for Jamaica this year, the report said.
