Japanese shipping company Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha Ltd. will move to a larger container terminal at the Port of Yokohama by the end of the year.

“K” Line will move from Honmoku A8 berth, which has an annual handling capacity of about 151,000 TEUs, to Honmoku A 5, 6 berth, with a capacity of approximately 205,000 TEUs, when the new terminal opens either late November or early December.

The Tokyo-based carrier said it “believes that this upgrade of the terminal will help the company successfully deal with the expected rapid cargo growth in global container trade, including but not limited to inter-Asia trade.”
