Korea cold storage fire kills at least seven

Korea cold storage fire kills at least seven A fire inside an Icheon, Korea, cold storage facility has killed at least seven people, with perhaps a dozen more feared dead, the Korea Herald reported Monday.
The fire came as a result of an explosion inside the facility while workers were installing urethane foaming in the building’s basement. The three-story building was owned by cold storage company Korea 2000. According to fire officials, “the explosion was likely triggered by the ignition of oily steam produced from thinner, creating toxic gases and smoke, and blocking the workers from escaping.”
By Monday afternoon, seven bodies had been recovered, while 21 out of 56 workers inside the building were rescued and the remaining workers are unaccounted for.
