Those trucking moves in February accounted for 59.8 percent of the $89.6 billion in trade among the countries. Rail carried 14.7 percent, and vessels accounted for 9.6 percent of the value. Air represented 3.5 percent.
The agency found that while trucking rose, air transport fell by 3.1 percent, year-over-year; rail took a 2.5-percent hit; and vessel shipping inched down by 0.3 percent.
Truck freight between the U.S. and Mexico increased by 5.2 percent, while trucking between Canada and the U.S. stayed basically flat at 0.1 percent.
