New COAC members sought

New COAC members sought    The U.S. Homeland Security and Treasury departments are requesting applications from the shipping industry to fill the membership of its Departmental Advisory Committee on Commercial Operations of Customs and Border Protection and Related Functions (COAC).
Applications are due no later than Sept. 15.
COAC’s purpose is to provide advice to the secretaries of both departments on all matters involving commercial operations of Customs and related functions within Homeland Security and Treasury, and to submit an annual report to Congress describing its operations and new recommendations.
COAC was formed under the 1987 Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act. The committee’s membership and charter must be re-established every two years. The committee’s 20 members are selected from industry sectors affected by Customs commercial operations.
For more information about submitting COAC membership applications, contact Monica Frazier of Homeland Security’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Border and Transportation Security in Washington at (571) 227-3977.
