The U.S. Coast Guard and other agencies in the Port of Wilmington, Del., responded Thursday to a fuel spill from the roll-on/roll-off vessel Honor.
The Coast Guard said it received a call at 8:40 a.m. from the captain aboard the Honor reporting a punctured fuel tank while moored at the port. The agency estimated that about 1,300 gallons of No. 2 fuel oil spilled into the water. 'The hole in the tank is plugged and the spill is contained,' the Coast Guard said.
The Honor is operated by American Roll-on/Roll-Off Carriers, based in New Jersey.
The Coast Guard said the cause of the spill is under investigation.
