Peter Feldman would fill an empty slot left by Joseph Mohorovic, who left the commission in October.    President Donald Trump on Monday nominated Peter Feldman to be a commissioner on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) through Oct. 26, 2019, the White House announced.
Feldman would take over the empty slot left by Joseph Mohorovic, who left the CPSC on Oct. 20 to join Troutman Sanders law firm as a senior consultant and to work on the firm’s product safety team.
Feldman is currently senior counsel on the Senate Commerce Committee, for which he advises on consumer protection, product safety, data and privacy issues, the White House said in a separate announcement.
The last CPSC commissioner confirmed by the Senate was Dana Baiocco on May 22.
Trump also nominated Karen Dunn Kelley to be deputy secretary of Commerce on Monday. Kelley has served in an acting capacity since Nov. 29, after former Deputy Commerce Secretary Bruce Andrews ended his term on Jan. 20, 2017.
