UPS expecting large return numbers

The integrator will enter the final phase of its peak-season plan.

Holiday returns will boost UPS’ volume numbers for the next few weeks, with officials expecting to ship more than 800,000 packages on Jan. 6, its busiest day for returns.
During the first week of January, the integrator expects to ship 4 million packages.
According to a UPS survey, in 2014, 62 percent of consumers returned an item purchased online, up from 51 percent in 2012.
“We have successfully completed two of three phases of the peak holiday
delivery season,” Alan
Gershenhorn, UPS’ executive vice president and chief commercial officer, said in a statement. “Our Cyber Weekend and pre-Christmas performance helped
retailers take advantage of holiday demand. We are now preparing for a
surge in volume driven by Returns Week beginning next Monday.”
