What is the Freight.Tech 100?
The Freight.Tech 100 is a list of the top nominations for the 100 most innovative companies in freight. FreightWaves will solicit its readers annually to nominate those companies that they think are the most innovative and/or disruptive in freight today. The FreightWaves Research Institute will review the nominations in collaboration with the FreightWaves editorial staff to list the 100 companies that will comprise the Freight.Tech 100. The Freight.Tech 100 will be published annually via www.freightwaves.com. The Freight.Tech 100 is provided annually to the voters via an independent accounting firm so that they can vote on the companies that will comprise the Freight.Tech 25.
What is the Freight.Tech 25?
The Freight.Tech 100 is a designation given annually to the most innovative and/or disruptive companies in freight. The FreightWaves Research Institute, Freight.Tech 100 and Freight.Tech 25 were launched in August 2018. A panel of industry CEOs, investors and industry leaders from around the world electronically vote on the Freight.Tech 25 from the Freight.Tech 100. All of the voters have an extensive background in the industry. The voting for the Freight.Tech 25 is tallied, verified and certified by Katz, Sapper & Miller (KSM), an independent accounting firm.
The Freight.Tech 25 is determined by a simple points system based on how each voter ranks the industry’s most innovative and/or disruptive companies. A company receives 25 points for each first place vote, 24 for second and so on through to the 25th company, which receives one point. The rankings are set by listing each company’s point totals from highest to lowest. The mathematical formula is the same as the one used for the Amway College Football Coaches Poll, the AP Pro32 rankings and the AP Top 25 rankings for men's and women’s college basketball.
Nominations were submitted prior to the nomination deadline of September 30th, 2018. Individuals can submit as many nominations as they want. All required fields must be completed in order for the nomination to be considered for the Freight.Tech 100. FreightWaves and KSM are the only companies active in freight not eligible for nomination. A company must be actively innovating in freight to be considered for the Freight.Tech 100.
FreightWaves has hand-picked a peer group of CEOs, industry leaders and investors actively investing in freight to participate as voters. The voters will vote annually upon receipt of the electronic voting form from the independent accounting firm. FreightWaves will publish the list of voters in advance of the voting process.
Using the Freight.Tech 100 list, each voter will rank 1-25 those companies that they think are the top 25 most innovative companies in freight. Voters can vote for their own company if it is on the Freight.Tech 100 list. A company on the Freight.Tech 100 list can only be ranked once per voter. A company receives 25 points for each first place vote, 24 for second and so on through to the 25th company, which receives one point. The rankings are set by listing the companies’ point totals from highest to lowest.
