Uber Freight y Transplace combinan sus operaciones

Uber Freight LLC y Transplace, el 3PL que Uber Freight adquirió el pasado verano, combinarán sus negocios durante el cuarto trimestre de 2022 y abandonarán el nombre de Transplace, que tiene 22 años, según ha sabido FreightWaves. 

Las dos empresas se integrarán en lo que se ha descrito como un negocio descentralizado que seguirá vinculado a la matriz Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER). La marca Uber Freight se mantendrá, y la empresa rehecha permanecerá dentro de la familia de empresas Uber, según ha sabido FreightWaves. Sin embargo, la nueva operación tendrá su propia estructura, misión y estrategia, y funcionará de forma autónoma de la matriz.

La independencia de la estructura centralizada de Uber dará a la nueva operación la capacidad de aprovechar las oportunidades de logística de empresa a empresa (B2B) sin tener que navegar por la estructura corporativa más grande de la matriz. Uber Freight, con sede en San Francisco, adquirió Transplace, con sede en Dallas, el pasado julio por 2.25 billones de dólares. La transacción creó una de las mayores plataformas tecnológicas de logística del sector, con una considerable red de transporte y logística gestionada. Transplace se fundó en el año 2000, cuando seis grandes empresas de transporte de carga combinaron sus divisiones logísticas internas. Ha pasado por varios propietarios desde su fundación.

Mark Solomon

Formerly the Executive Editor at DC Velocity, Mark Solomon joined FreightWaves as Managing Editor of Freight Markets. Solomon began his journalistic career in 1982 at Traffic World magazine, ran his own public relations firm (Media Based Solutions) from 1994 to 2008, and has been at DC Velocity since then. Over the course of his career, Solomon has covered nearly the whole gamut of the transportation and logistics industry, including trucking, railroads, maritime, 3PLs, and regulatory issues.
