Federal agencies hold export promotion seminars

Federal agencies hold export promotion seminars    Six federal agencies have created a half-day seminar series to show how small businesses can use government export assistance programs to expand their sales of U.S. goods and services abroad.
“Although 95 percent of the world’s customers are located outside of the United States, the vast majority of American companies aren’t currently accessing this global market because of perceived difficulties in successfully finding and financing foreign sales,” said Fred P. Hochberg, chairman and president of the U.S. Export-Import Bank, in a statement.
The eight-city “Exports Live!: Real Deals, Real Profits” seminar series will be held at:
   ' New York, Oct. 5.
   ' Boston, Oct. 6.
   ' Miami, Oct. 26.
   ' Houston, Oct. 27.
   ' Detroit, Nov. 9.
   ' Chicago, Nov. 10.
   ' Los Angeles, Nov. 16.
   ' Seattle, Nov. 17.
The seminars will include presentations and question-and-answer sessions by small business exporters that have benefited from export services at the federal, state and local levels. One-on-one sessions with trade organization representatives will be available later in the day of each seminar.
The federal agencies leading the seminars are Ex-Im Bank, Commerce Department, Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, Small Business Administration, U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and Overseas Private Investment Corp.
