JumboÆs longest load
Heavy-lift cargo specialist Jumbo Shipping said last week it had successfully discharged the longest load in its 41-year history.
In late October, two tanker barges were loaded on board the company’s ship HLV Fairpartner in Nantong, China. One of the barges, which weighed more than 1,330 tons, had a record length of 135 meters, the longest piece of cargo ever lifted by a Jumbo vessel. The second barge was slightly smaller at 1,100 tons and had a length of 130 meters.
The barges, which were carried one on top of the other, were discharged in Rotterdam after a voyage around the Cape of Good Hope, the company said.
