Import bans on archaeological material extended

Restrictions on material from Bulgaria and China will remain in place until January 2024.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Treasury Department are extending import restrictions on certain archaeological and ecclesiastical ethnological material from Bulgaria and China through Jan. 14, 2024, the agencies said in separate notices published Monday.
The import restrictions were set to expire Monday.
The State Department’s Office of the Assistant Secretary for Educational and Cultural Affairs has determined to enter into new memoranda of understanding with both Bulgaria and China to reflect the extension of the import restrictions.
