Port of Houston reviews security contract proposals

   The commission of the Port of Houston Authority on Monday (Oct. 20) approved several recommendations for contract awards concerning security at the port.

   The port authority’s security committee evaluated 17 proposals for a three-year, professional services contract for unarmed, uniformed security gate officer services at the port’s terminal gates and cruise terminal parking lot. The company U.S. Security Associates was selected for participation in contract negotiations.

   The engineering department evaluated nine proposals for a design/build contract for the port’s security infrastructure enhancements, including the design and installation of systems for access control, closed-circuit television surveillance, fencing, lighting, gate entrances, emergency response and evacuation. The compnay TRC Customer-Focused Solutions received the commission’s top ranking for participation in contract negotiations.
