Schenker adds transparency to cargo tracking

DB Schenker Logistics has launched a new set of online offerings for tracking air and ocean cargo.
The company’s customers can now access a quick search feature, special filters and references that customize information, and create an automatic notification service. Those using its DB SCHENKERsmartbox service also get access to ocean freight container tracking that is displayed in real-time using GPS tracking, as well as checking a variety of sensor parameters and information around temperature, humidity, G-force, inclination, and light.
Electronic notification features in the service now let customers set up and save notifications in the DB Schenker system for specific trade lanes and ports or airports. Information is provided to customers through e-mail when a consignment reaches a specified milestone or if the parameters change.
“Many (customers) expressed a desire to optimize the information provided and to enable consignments to be tracked more easily,” said Diederick de Vroet, head of global ocean freight at DB Schenker Logistics.
